Only White Taxis Under 7 Years Old Will Operate at Zvartnots Airport

The Armenian government approved amendments to the Law on Road Transport during its meeting on September 16, stating that only white taxis under 7 years old, operating with their factory fuel systems, will serve at Zvartnots Airport.

The justification for the decision notes: “The process of providing taxi services at airports lacks specific regulations, resulting in unacceptable behavior by taxi service providers who cause discomfort to passengers by verbally soliciting them in the airport area. Foreign citizens entering Armenia and tourists find themselves in an awkward situation, which is unacceptable from a tourism perspective.”

As a solution, the government proposes to grant Type A licenses to airport taxis for passenger transport. This means that only organizations and individual entrepreneurs holding Type A licenses will be able to provide services from the taxi parking lots within the airport area.

The license will only be issued to those organizations and individuals who possess vehicles that are white, no older than 7 years, operated with factory fuel systems, and are equipped with markings and the designation “Aerotaxi.”

These licensed taxis will be required to pay an annual fee of 200,000 AMD. Both individual taxi drivers and companies will pay the same amount.
