Have there not been Turkish trucks in Armenia before? – Lapshin

Blogger Alexander Lapshin wrote on his Facebook page: “I have long stopped being surprised by the fact that most of the residents of Armenia have absolutely no idea what is happening in their country and in the world. This is not only the case in Armenia, but in many places as well. Let’s take the noise about the Turkish trucks, from which construction materials were unloaded at the Republic Square in Yerevan on September 21 for the decorations of Independence Day celebrations.

There is a double ‘horror’, as if those decorations were also produced in Turkey. But were there not Turkish trucks in Armenia before? And did you not know where most of the construction materials in Armenia came from? Yes, again from Turkey. People, take off your rose-colored glasses, step out of your houses, take a public transport, and go towards Goris or Meghri, there are many Turkish trucks there. There were many during Serzh Sargsyan’s time, and there are many now. Business with Turkey has never stopped, and I believe the figures published in the press, which state that trade turnover with Turkey reaches 300 million dollars annually, despite the ongoing war. Who, do you think, brings Turkish goods to Armenia with such a huge monetary volume? Of course, it is the Turkish trucks.

At the LC WAIKIKI store, where many of you buy relatively good and not expensive clothes, you pretentiously act as if you don’t know that it is a Turkish brand. Look where the shampoo you wash your hair with is produced, don’t hesitate to check where the sink in your bathroom, the kitchen faucet, or your shoes were made. In half the cases, you will see Made in Turkey. The Goris-Kapan highway, where Azerbaijanis have become the owners and directors, taking bribes from Iranian and Turkish trucks, was unexpected for you, what is happening there. Seven months ago, I drove through that road to Meghri and warned that very soon Azerbaijanis would create provocations there. I wrote that it is necessary to urgently complete the construction of the road from Tatev. I even quoted Russian military personnel who personally told me not to go that way; otherwise, they would need to take me out of Azerbaijani captivity again. I was clearly told that this road is not protected, and at any moment, Azerbaijanis can do any tricks there. They can stop cars and kidnap people, they can shoot at Armenian vehicles. And no one will protect you. I repeat, no one.

I have also recorded a video about this and have written here many times. Seven months pass, and the people begin to bemoan how surprising it is when the Azerbaijanis block the road and extort money from the truck drivers. What an unpleasant surprise. Or perhaps you didn’t know that thousands of citizens of Armenia are resting in Turkish resorts. Enter any travel agency, and they will happily offer you a tour to Antalya. Or is it the first time you are hearing that there is a normalization process underway in relations with Turkey and that Armenia needs to exit the blockade? I didn’t hesitate and a few months ago visited the border crossings with Turkey that operated until 1993. Do you know what I saw there? I also wrote about it on Facebook and uploaded a video to YouTube, showing that they are gradually putting everything in order after thirty years of devastation and emptiness. So do not suddenly say, ‘Oh, they are opening the border, while we didn’t even suspect it.’

In their directness, Armenians remind you, you know who. Don’t take offense, but the Palestinians. Now I will tell you. In Israel, in those unfortunate occupied territories /the West Bank/, do you know who builds the Jewish settlements? You think the builders are Jews. True, a hundred percent of the workers are Palestinians. And the construction companies, yes, they are owned by Jews. This is a big business. During the day, the Palestinians earn money working for the Jews in the construction of Jewish settlements, and in the evening they protest against the illegality of the same settlements that they themselves are building. The same situation exists in modern-day Armenia. However, all of this is aside. Congratulations on the occasion of Independence Day, Armenia, which is coming in a week.”
