Kocharian Visits Charchyan

The second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharian, today visited the MP from the "Armenia" faction, Armen Charchyan, who is receiving treatment at the "Kanaker-Zeytun" Medical Center.

This information was confirmed to Sputnik Armenia by Kocharian's office coordinator, Bagrat Mikoyan. He did not provide further details about the meeting.

It is noteworthy that Charchyan continues to receive treatment at the "Kanaker-Zeytun" Medical Center. He suffered an acute heart attack on August 24, is diabetic, and has high insulin levels. His defense team has twice petitioned the court to change his preventive measure, but to no avail.

Recall that on June 18, a recording surfaced online in which Charchyan urged employees to participate in the parliamentary elections, suggesting they should not vote for the incumbent authorities. On the same day, Charchyan was arrested. On June 21, the Central Electoral Commission allowed criminal proceedings to begin against Charchyan. He was detained and later released on a 15 million dram bail. On August 23, Charchyan was arrested again.
