Deputy Prime Minister's Response to Zakharova's Statement on Demarcation Process

The process of demarcation and delimitation between Armenia and Azerbaijan should begin, said Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan during a press briefing, commenting on the statement made by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, regarding the incidents occurring on the Kapan-Goris road, which once again confirm the necessity of starting the demarcation and delimitation work at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

“I believe that a certain process should be initiated there,” Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan told Armenpress.

On September 16, during a weekly online press briefing, Maria Zakharova stated that the situation in the problematic areas of the interstate road between Kapan and Goris, including the checking of Iranian trucks by Azerbaijanis in sections now under Azerbaijani control and the extraction of money from drivers, once again confirms the need to start the demarcation and delimitation work between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“Russia's proposals on this matter have been communicated to both Baku and Yerevan. We expect to receive a response soon to shape the further course of action. Simultaneously, we will continue to work together with Azerbaijan and Armenia to unblock transport links in the region in accordance with the tripartite agreements reached at the highest level on November 9, 2020, and January 11, 2021,” stated the spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry.
