VIDEO: What Brain Does the Government Have, Why Is It Signing Documents? Manukyan to Pashinyan
Since the beginning of the 2000s, Azerbaijan has declared that it is prepared to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh issue by military means, said Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a Q&A session with the government in the National Assembly.
“When the investigative committee is formed, you will see that periodically that assessment will be there, that there is a likelihood of war. In other words, there is no secret there, yes, we did not know the place and time of the war,” he noted.
Addressing opposition MP Gegham Manukyan, who posed a question to him, the Prime Minister urged him to speak not only about his contradictions but also about their own, the opposition’s: “You say, ‘Why didn’t you stop the war sooner?’ Knowing that the way to stop the war was to renounce the areas you mentioned, now where have we acted correctly and where have we acted wrongly? I said back then, when we talk about the parts of Syunik, I ask, but weren’t Azerbaijanis there some time ago? How did they get there when they said not to concede this 10 kilometers and we would defend, but before that it was 50 kilometers, right? We would defend, but I mean to say there is also a contradiction there—on one hand, you say, ‘Why didn’t you make the decision to stop the war sooner,’ on the other hand, you say, ‘Why did you make the decision to stop it?’” said the Prime Minister.
He stated that he personally went to the Syunik region and set the task of forming self-defense units in Syunik, having also invited the former, now current Chief of Staff for organizational work: “Where is it written that 90 percent of this 10 kilometers could not be defended before? We should protect that last piece,” he said.
Pashinyan noted that when Armenia has negotiated for ten and more years, it has been clearly recorded that the areas of Zangezur, Gubadli, and others need to be returned to Azerbaijan: “I say, where was the border of that Zangezur and Gubadli according to the Armenian side’s perception? This has been articulated by the Armenian side in the law on Administrative Territorial Division, that beyond the administrative territory of Shurnukh is Azerbaijan. What is complex in what I said that is not understood?” emphasized Pashinyan.
