The 2018 Revolution Returned Power to the People: Alen Simonyan

Today is the International Day of Democracy. The resolution adopted at the UN General Assembly enshrines that despite the universality of democracy, there is no single model of democracy. This was reported by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan.

“Just a few years ago, the concept of democracy in Armenia was mainly found in textbooks. When discussing democratic values, it was mandatory to speak about the lack of 'political will.' The 2018 revolution returned power to the people, rejecting the false formulations of template democracy. Today, the formulation of our country's own model of full democracy is already a daily task, combined with the efforts and great patience of all of us,” he wrote.
