Reservist Officer Killed in Kapan Was Participating in Three-Month Exercises

Reservist Mkrtich Hovakimyan, who sustained a fatal gunshot wound at a combat outpost deployed in the southeastern direction, was participating in a three-month training exercise.

He was a participant in the 44-day war and had gone to the front lines to be with his conscript son. During the war, he had sustained serious injuries but returned to the front shortly after a brief recovery.

“Mkrtich practiced karate. He opened a small karate school and had many students. He won many trophies in his sport. He also appeared in several films,” said Mkrtich's friend Narek Hakobyan in an interview with NEWS.am.
