PM: There Has Not Been a Single Celebration in the Last 30 Years Without Missing Persons

“I have said that our citizens do not have a festive mood, but there is another problem: the Republic of Armenia is 30 years old, and if we hold this event with the flags of Armenia, and the state holiday should be held that way, we must consider that our flag has very bright colors. And I do not think we should change the colors of our flag,” said Pashinyan, referring to the upcoming event on September 21.

He noted that the basis of the event will be the memory of the fallen. It is expected that on September 21, the launch of a large-scale project will be announced in memory of those who perished in the last three wars and during military service.

“Work in this direction has been ongoing for 6 months. I apologize again, but in the last 30 years, there has not been a single celebration without missing persons or fresh graves in the 'Yerablur' military pantheon. My philosophy is this: all those who died sacrificed their lives so that Armenia would live,” Pashinyan explained.

The Prime Minister also announced that the event will have two names: “Independent” and “With My Homeland.” It is noteworthy that these are the titles of poems by the great Armenian poet Hovhannes Shiraz. Pashinyan even recited a few lines from them.
