National Security Service Reserve Officers' Union on Alen Simonian

From the high podium of the Parliament, Alen Simonian made a clear declaration, stating that the reports of torture of Armenian captives are 'fabricated.' In effect, he denied the statements made by the Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Arman Tatoyan. This was announced by the National Security Service Reserve Officers' Union.

The statement further reads: 'We are more than confident that Arman Tatoyan, endowed with high human and professional qualities, made his declaration based on conversations with Armenian captives, which have been documented and will soon be presented at all possible international platforms. Our professional experience also confirms that Azerbaijani special services have exhibited inhumane, cruel treatment towards many individuals who found themselves in captivity prior to this war; this is their modus operandi, their state policy.'

'It is deeply concerning that A. Simonian's statement about the fabricated nature of the torture allegations seems to imply a commitment to defending Azerbaijani-Turkish interests, justifying their actions. Meanwhile, individuals representing the state are obliged to act from pro-Armenian positions; they are called to be the ideologists of the country and defenders of its interests; otherwise, the conduct of such officials raises serious doubts.'
