Iranian Embassy on Recent Events in the Goris-Kapan Route

The Islamic Republic of Iran is closely monitoring the developments in the Caucasus region that have taken place in recent months, particularly regarding the collection of fees from Iranian vehicles traveling from Iran to Armenia since Sunday, September 12. This was reported to NEWS.am by the Iranian embassy in Armenia in response to a question about whether the embassy is aware of and monitoring the fact that Azerbaijani forces have been stopping Iranian trucks near the Gorot community in Syunik and collecting money from them, and how this situation can be interpreted.

Below is the response from the Iranian embassy: “As has been repeatedly stated, Iran prioritizes relations with its neighbors. The government of President Ebrahim Raisi considers relations with neighbors to be one of the main directions of its foreign policy. Therefore, Tehran will work to expand relations with all neighboring countries, with a balanced but predominant priority.

Iran aims to leverage its capabilities for regional development, peace, and stability with the participation of all neighboring countries. Consequently, it is particularly important to enhance relations with our friendly country Armenia and eliminate obstacles and issues along the way.”

The Islamic Republic of Iran will pursue various methods to facilitate trade with neighboring countries, including Armenia.
