“Does Mutalibov’s local patent understand that his words will be used as a shield against us?” Nahapetyan on Alen Simonyan

Member of the Citizens' Decision party, Mikael Nahapetyan, stated on his Facebook page: “The Office of the Human Rights Defender is spending time, resources, and state funds to collect specific cases of torture of prisoners one by one, attaching video and photo evidence, and translating it into English, so that in communications with the world, we have a comprehensive document we can refer to as irrefutable evidence of Azerbaijani atrocities. Today, one of the MPs referred to this booklet in his speech, recounting instances of cruel treatment that are included in the HRD's report. At the end of the MP's speech, Alen Simonyan responded, ‘Honestly, I didn’t understand what these fabricated scenes were needed for in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.’ Does this Mutalibov’s local patent understand that his statement will be used by the Azerbaijani HRD and the ECHR representatives as a weapon against us? In such situations in international relations, ‘forgive us, our leader spoke foolishly’ or ‘he didn’t mean that’ is not a valid defense.”
