Colorful Concert Organized Just 6 Days Before the First Anniversary of War Considered an Abominable Act by Families of Fallen Soldiers

The acting Prime Minister stated during the government meeting on September 8: “A large-scale and colorful celebration will take place in Republic Square, which will primarily be dedicated to the memory of the fallen martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the independence, security, and sovereignty of Armenia and Artsakh.”

Families of the fallen soldiers have issued a statement: “We, the parents, wives, and family members of the hero martyrs, consider the colorful concert scheduled on September 21—just six days before the first anniversary of the war—to be desecration and an abominable act. It has not yet been a year since our boys fell, and hundreds of parents are still searching for their sons and husbands. We have prisoners who are subjected to inhumane torture every day. Under these conditions, we view the organization of a colorful concert and the announcement that it is dedicated to our boys as a grievous insult to us and the memory of our soldiers. We call for a cancellation of this intention and urge to celebrate Independence Day with other events that are more fitting to the situation.”
