Authorities Ready to Offer Deal to Aghvan Hovsepyan: 'Zhoghovurd'
The newspaper 'Zhoghovurd' reports: An intriguing situation has emerged around Aghvan Hovsepyan, the former head of the RA Investigative Committee and former Attorney General. 'Zhoghovurd' learned that the authorities are ready to make a so-called deal and release Hovsepyan if he pays the preliminary calculated amount regarding the criminal case and returns it to the state budget. In such a case, it is not ruled out that his pre-trial detention will be replaced with bail. It turns out that money could buy freedom.
Nonetheless, this option is currently the most discussed one within the law enforcement system.
Let us recall that according to the official statement, A. Hovsepyan has been charged with legalizing particularly large amounts of property acquired through criminal means, totaling 1,299,404,414 AMD (money laundering) in several instances. The statement indicates that he has actually participated in managing several LLCs engaged in entrepreneurial activities and has received a particularly large bribe amounting to 190,000,000 AMD, as well as embezzled property valued at 800,000,000 AMD through fraud.
Additionally, in a conversation with 'Zhoghovurd', a close associate of Shanti Yura indicated that Yura Garibyan, the businessman who testified against Aghvan Hovsepyan, is no longer in Armenia, adding that he could not disclose more information.
