A Campaign Has Started Against Arushanyan's Associates: "Hraparak"

According to the newspaper "Hraparak", "Irina Yolyan submitted her resignation from the post of Deputy Mayor of Goris several weeks ago. In mid-August, Deputy Mayor Menua Hovsepyan and Yolyan were arrested, but she was not detained. A few days after being released, Yolyan wrote her resignation letter. There are rumors in Goris that she was threatened.

In a conversation with us yesterday, she said that she wrote her resignation letter because she is the authorized representative of Arush Arushanyan and wants to engage in that work. 'I want to be unencumbered by my official position and speak more freely and openly about the real issues in Syunik,' she said.

It is noteworthy that Arushanyan has submitted an application to participate in the local government elections on October 17. Authorities are also scrutinizing other associates of Arushanyan; ahead of the elections, there are attempts to exert pressure on them to ensure that the imprisoned Arushanyan does not get re-elected. Yolyan confirmed that dozens of criminal cases have been initiated against Arushanyan's close associates on 'various grounds.'
