New Military Base to be Established in Azerbaijan: Is This a Positive Signal from Turkey? – Artashes Geghamyan
A new Turkish military base is set to be established in Azerbaijan, which is equivalent to the creation of a NATO base. This was stated by former National Assembly member Artashes Geghamyan during a press conference.
“In this case, instead of discussing the creation of committees during the National Assembly session, they should appeal to our military-political ally, the Russian Federation, to respond to the establishment of the Turkish military base in Azerbaijan and in the occupied territories of Artsakh as they did when the Ukrainians were persistently seeking NATO membership,” noted Geghamyan.
He highlighted that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is speaking about positive signals coming from Turkey, particularly from Erdogan, and claiming that they will respond positively to these signals. “Mr. Prime Minister, instead of raising questions today about the 2,000 Syrian mercenary terrorists who fought against the Artsakh self-defense army, of which 1,000 remain there post-war, Turkey is establishing a military base—is that the positive signal?” Geghamyan pointed out.
“Is it a positive signal that 60-65 percent of the military force in Nakhchivan today is Turkish military power?” he further questioned.
