25-year-old driver crashes Opel into building wall and overturns; mother dies en route to hospital
A tragic car accident occurred today, September 10, in the Gegharkunik region. At around 07:55, the Martuni medical center reported to the police department of Martuni that a woman's body had been brought to them.
According to shamshyan.com, the head of the Gegharkunik regional police department, Arthur Mkrtchyan, and the head of the Martuni police department, Stepan Hakobyan, went to the hospital. Police at the scene established that the deceased was living in Yerevan but was registered in the village of Zolakar. She was 43-year-old Margarita Toneyan.
While the police were determining the identity of the deceased at the hospital, an operational group from the Martuni police department, headed by Deputy Head Garik Gerasimyan, established that today at around 07:40, 25-year-old Tiran Toneyan, who lived in Yerevan and was registered in Zolakar village, had lost control of his Opel vehicle on the first street of Zolakar village under unclear circumstances, crashed into the wall of a private house at number 18, and overturned, resulting in M. Toneyan's death on the way to the hospital.
According to sources, the deceased was the mother of the driver.
