Some Participants of Reserve Training Gatherings Have Abandoned Their Units
According to information obtained by the 'Jahangir' newspaper, some participants of the reserve training gatherings have abandoned their military units, which are now being addressed by the military police. It has been reported that individuals expressed their willingness to participate in the exercises but later left the training location, resulting in them being targeted by the Military Police.
This is why the Ministry of Defense emphasizes, in a statement regarding the exercises, that avoidance of gatherings will lead to criminal law consequences. It was announced yesterday that, by a decision of the Government of Armenia, from September 15 to December 15, 2021, new three-month training gatherings will be declared for reserve personnel registered in the first group of the first category, including private, non-commissioned officer, and officer corps.
As necessary, participants of the gatherings will also be involved in combat duty. The training gatherings are aimed at enhancing the military skills of citizens registered in the reserves, professional retraining, and the preparation of officers from the non-commissioned officer corps with higher education.
Throughout their participation, citizens will be considered servicemen and will benefit from all allowances provided for military personnel. Participation in the gatherings will, according to the calendar count, be included in the citizen's military service or overall employment experience.
The Ministry of Defense reports that avoidance of gatherings will lead to criminal law consequences. It should be noted that these are already the second training gatherings, as similar gatherings began on August 25. A total of 2,169 citizens are involved in these gatherings, including 1,164 from the junior ranks, 254 from the non-commissioned officer corps, and 751 officers from the reserves.
