Ombudsman Staff Visited Two Prisoners of War Returned from Azerbaijan
Ombudsman staff visited two prisoners of war returned from Azerbaijan last night. This was announced by the Republic of Armenia's Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan during a conversation with reporters, adding that he has not yet had the opportunity to speak with them.
Regarding the report published yesterday on the torture of Armenian prisoners of war in Azerbaijan, the Ombudsman noted that responses do not occur within 30 minutes.
“Responses are not solely a result of the Ombudsman's work. Yes, we have also provided various responses, starting from our international ombudsman offices, leaders, and the UN. We have numerous bodies in Armenia, I have published objective facts; these do not belong to the Ombudsman alone. We all need to work towards ensuring that appropriate actions are taken,” Tatoyan mentioned, adding that the purpose of the report is to highlight criminal acts and reach accountability mechanisms.
