I Thought They Would Consider Armen Charchyan's Key Role in the Medical Field: No One from the Ministry of Health Has Visited the Doctor

The head of the Permanent Committee on Human Rights and Public Affairs of the National Assembly, Taguhi Tovmasyan, today visited the hospitalized member of the "Armenia" faction, Armen Charchyan.

Taguhi Tovmasyan reported that Armen Charchyan's health condition is serious: "Mr. Charchyan has been transferred to the endocrinology department with approximately 20 high indicators of diabetes, which is very alarming, as it should normally be 6. He was transferred to the Vardashen penitentiary 9 days after a cardiac incident, which is unacceptable because Mr. Charchyan should have received his treatment for at least 20 days; this is a very concerning situation," Tovmasyan said.

The representative also noted that no one from the Ministry of Health has visited Armen Charchyan: "I thought that considering Armen Charchyan's key role in the medical field, at least a humane gesture could have been made to visit him, but that has not happened," Tovmasyan stated.

During the meeting, Armen Charchyan insisted that he is being subjected to political persecution by the President of the Supreme Judicial Council personally. "Armen Charchyan said that political persecution and torture are being executed against him, based on the directives of Gagik Jhangiryan, the President of the Supreme Judicial Council. He had information that prior to the ruling on his case, Gagik Jhangiryan met with Judge Lusine Abgaryan. Armen Charchyan continues to assert that the political persecution against him has a specific direction. All of this, along with Armen Charchyan's physical condition, gives me grounds to insist and declare that he must be released immediately and the issue of his confinement must be resolved, as the most undesirable consequences could occur," Tovmasyan stated.
