Extraordinary Session of Parliament Possible on September 23 at Government's Proposal

The government is set to propose an extraordinary session of the National Assembly on September 23. The draft decision is included in today's agenda of the government's meeting.

The government suggests including in the agenda of the extraordinary session the package of bills amending and supplementing the law on "Administrative Territorial Division of the Republic of Armenia" and the law on "Local Self-Government".

The justification for the draft states that the necessity to convene an extraordinary session of the National Assembly arises from the fact that during September, only one four-day session is scheduled from the 13th to the 16th. It is unrealistic to discuss the bills during this period, as parliamentary hearings on the unification of communities are set to take place before the National Assembly discusses the bills.
