Wife of Former MP's Candidacy Not Proposed as Husband to Be Appointed Ambassador: 'Hraparak'

Wife of Former MP's Candidacy Not Proposed as Husband to Be Appointed Ambassador: 'Hraparak'

The vacant position of the head of the Corruption Prevention Commission has a candidate, likely to be discussed in the first session of the autumn parliamentary session on September 13. This was reported by 'Hraparak'.

The new candidate is Mariam Galstyan, a 1989-born employee of the Ministry of Justice. From 2011 to 2014, she served as the legal advisor to the head of the ministry’s staff, and from 2014 to 2016, she was an assistant to the deputy minister. Currently, she is the head of the Department for Developing and Monitoring Anti-Corruption Policy.

Recall that in June this year, Parliament rejected the candidacy of Tigran Avetisyan's wife, Tatevik Barshegyan, known for her previous work at the 'Transparency International' Anti-Corruption Center (where she worked from 2012 to 2019), through a closed vote.

It is likely that after this failure, a 'barter' took place, and the candidacy of the wife was not put forward since her husband, Sos Avetisyan, is expected to be appointed an ambassador in the near future. Despite there being more deserving and experienced candidates for the ambassadorial position within the Foreign Ministry.
