Security cameras last captured the girls at a store with a suspicious man who was buying candy for the children.

It turns out that the unidentified man is 41-year-old Viktor Pesternikov, who has a criminal history related to sexual offenses. He had been released from prison two years ago.

Pesternikov confessed to raping and murdering the two ten-year-old girls. The bodies of the children have been discovered, and he has led authorities to the location of the murders. He is being taken in for further questioning.
