Video: Azerbaijanis have destroyed livestock feed for the entire year, Tovmasyan visits Gegharkunik
Chair of the RA National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs, MP Tahmase Tovmasyan visited several settlements in the consolidated community of Geghamasar in Gegharkunik province, where the pastures were set on fire by Azerbaijani soldiers. She stated, “The scene was truly horrifying. Azerbaijanis have destroyed our residents' entire year's livestock feed in just a few moments. This crime has been committed by Azerbaijani forces that invaded the territory of the Republic of Armenia on May 12 of this year. As I had already warned, the Azerbaijanis had burned down the vegetation near the communities of Sotk, Kut, Azat, and Norabak in the Gegharkunik province of Armenia. It is sad to note that the fire also affected those citizens whose livestock has been stolen by the Azerbaijanis and has not been returned to this day. Because of Azerbaijani crimes, the residents of our border communities have effectively been deprived of life, peaceful living, free movement, and property rights in their homeland. Additionally, residents have also been deprived of their means of livelihood. Azerbaijani forces are creating an atmosphere of fear for community residents and especially for children, posing yet another unanswered challenge to international organizations.
In the coming days, I will send another letter regarding Azerbaijani criminal activities to international organizations. These crimes against the peaceful population of Armenia should be strongly condemned by the relevant bodies operating in the field of human rights protection, which must take all possible and necessary measures within their jurisdiction to protect the fundamental rights of the civilian population of Armenia's border communities.
By the way, I have raised the issue of the stolen livestock with the Prime Minister, but unfortunately, I have not received a substantial answer regarding when compensation would be provided and whether it would be provided at all. There has also been no response from the government about providing compensation to farmers for the burned pastures. Moreover, the credit obligations that our compatriots undertook to purchase livestock have not been granted any concessions. I will continue to ensure that citizens receive fair compensation,” the MP stated.
