School Principal Demands and Receives Bribe for Hiring Process: Police Reveal Details of Notorious Case
The Police's Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Department has obtained substantial evidence based on operational information and a verbal report filed on September 1 by a woman summoned to the department.
It has been established that the principal of Yerevan's Alexandr Blok High School No. 122 demanded a bribe equivalent to $1,500 (716,000 AMD) from the woman to facilitate her hiring as a class teacher and to recognize her as the winner of the announced competition. In August 2019, the woman transferred 478,000 AMD, equivalent to $1,000, to the principal through the deputy principal responsible for educational work, who was informed of their agreement. The remaining $500, equivalent to 238,000 AMD, was handed directly to the principal.
The Police's press office has announced that a criminal case has been initiated by the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Department regarding the alleged crimes, which has been forwarded to the Investigative Committee for further investigation.
