Photos: The functioning school that resembles ruins and has no basic windows - a call for action
According to a report by Mamul.am, journalist Natalie Aleksanyan wrote on her Facebook page:
“Residents of the village of Torunik in the Syunik region are raising an alarm. Torunik is a border village located in the Syunik region. According to 2011 statistical data, the village has a population of 138 residents. My question is formulated as follows: Has the Minister of Education ever instructed the regional governor to monitor the status of schools in the village?
How can a child in this village receive an education when the school resembles ruins? Instead of destroying established structures that attract large investors to Armenia, perhaps consider the schools and education in border and post-border villages, as it seems we do not need an educated society—especially in the villages…
Thus, the school in the village of Torunik lacks a library, heating, and even basic windows. I do not understand what the governor is occupied with if you have been instructed to depopulate the villages. How can a villager remain in their village when their child is not being educated?
If this post does not receive a response and the issue of the village school is not resolved urgently, I will go next week to show the whole world the conditions in which the children of Torunik receive an education in the 21st century.
And finally, as usual, I will not do this in order for some benefactor to help, but rather because it is obligatory for the government to resolve this issue. Enough of receiving money from the diaspora and spending it on incomprehensible purposes… The deceived diaspora will one day stop their assistance, or perhaps you are addressing that problem?”
