Grape Harvesting in Artsakh: Peacekeepers Ensure Safe Collection

The administration of the Askeran region in Artsakh has appealed to Russian peacekeepers for assistance in ensuring safety during the grape harvesting season, as the vineyards are located along the demarcation line. This was reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense's website.

“The provision of safety during the harvest will continue for two weeks,” said Alexey Ivanov, a representative of the Russian peacekeeping contingent.

The grape collection along the demarcation line has begun in the village of Kharamor in the Askeran region of Nagorno-Karabakh, for the purpose of collecting grape products.

“We started the harvest today under the protection of the peacekeepers. Our director has decided to send part of the harvest to an orphanage, and the children are very happy. Currently, the yield is good, and with the help of the peacekeepers, we were able to start the harvest,” said Apik Artesyan, a representative of the winery.

Earlier this spring, Russian sappers cleared this area of explosive materials, ensuring the safe maintenance of the grape plantations, as well as timely harvesting.

It should be noted that on November 9, the leaders of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan reached an agreement on the deployment of Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh, signing a statement in which Azerbaijan was to take control of seven regions of Artsakh, Shusha, and Hadrut, excluding one village, villages from the Askeran and Martuni regions, as well as the villages of Talish and Mataghis from the Martakert region.
