Theft Incidents in Gegharkunik Province: Operation 'You Have No Place in Paradise' Led by 'Sherlock Holmes'

The Gegharkunik Regional Directorate of Police, under the leadership of Chief Arthur Mkrtchyan, along with detectives from the Sevan division and community police departments, led by Chief Suren Janikyan, in collaboration with officers from the Davtashen division of Yerevan, conducted operational and investigative measures that resulted in the detention of two residents of Yerevan on suspicion of theft: 31-year-old Vardan Khachatryan and 40-year-old Armen Agasaryan.

According to Shamshyan.com, on September 2 at around 19:00, 55-year-old Gnel Harutyunyan, a resident of Tavush province, reported to the Sevan police that the left sliding window of his ambulance, which was parked near a food establishment on the Yerevan-Sevan highway, had been broken, and his personal bag was stolen from the right front seat.

It was established that the stolen bag contained his passport, identification card, a plastic card issued by Ardshinbank, and other personal belongings. It was confirmed on-site that the ambulance was registered to the 'Berd' medical center, and the stolen bag belonged to Nvard Kocharyan, a 43-year-old nurse at the medical center.

On the same day, Gegharkunik police initiated extensive operational and investigative work, which yielded results in a short time, leading to the apprehension of the mentioned individuals and confirming the validity of the operational information. The stolen items were also recovered.

According to the photojournalist, it was revealed that the aforementioned individuals had committed similar thefts in the administrative territory of the village of Draxhtik in Gegharkunik province. On September 2, a resident of Yerevan, 39-year-old Gagik B., parked his Hyundai Tucson with Georgian license plates in the administrative territory of Draxhtik village and discovered at around 18:00 that a drone, the 'Digi Eye Mavic Air 2 Combo,' and the 'iPhone 12 Pro' of his 34-year-old foreign female acquaintance, which contained her passport, three bank cards, a social card, and 30,000 drams, were stolen through the breaking of the vehicle's window, causing damage estimated at 1,260,000 drams.
