This Year We Will Face a Severe Animal Feed Problem: Geghamasar Community Leader
The fire that broke out as a result of enemy provocations in the communities of Sotk, Kut, Norabak, and Azat in the Gegharkunik region has nearly been extinguished, with only some smoldering hotspots remaining. This was stated by Geghamasar community leader Hakob Avetyan in an interview with NEWS.am.
“It is true that the fire is almost extinguished at this moment, but under windy conditions, it is possible for these smoldering hotspots to reignite. I am currently in the area, assessing the damages to determine the extent of losses to present to the regional governor's office and the government for compensation. We have already submitted a request, but we will provide additional details on the damage amount,” he said.
Hakob Avetyan noted that farmers had managed to harvest a small section of the grasslands, but most of the grass remained unharvested and has already burned due to the fires: “Farmers will face a very serious animal feed problem this year.”
It should be noted that the grasslands in the villages of Kut, Sotk, Norabak, and Azat have been burning since August 30. During this time, Azerbaijanis repeatedly set fire to the grasslands. Only the Human Rights Defender of Armenia has raised concerns about the issue.
