Shooting in Yerevan: The 45-Year-Old Victim was the Suspect's Uncle

On September 4, a murder involving firearms took place in Yerevan. Around 03:10, the Shengavit police department received a report about a man's body found in front of one of the houses on Inner Shengavit Street 12, Alley 2.

Police and investigators discovered the body of 45-year-old Samvel Vardanyan, who had sustained two gunshot wounds. While forensic experts were working at the crime scene, Shengavit police and investigators, along with officers from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Yerevan police, identified that a dispute had occurred at the location, during which the alleged suspect, 26-year-old Ashot Mkrtchyan, fired shots at S. Vardanyan with a “Walter” type handgun, resulting in the victim's immediate death.

Police and investigators managed to apprehend the suspect and took him to the Shengavit police station. They also recovered the firearm used in the crime; based on the investigator's decision, A. Mkrtchyan was arrested. According to reporters, the deceased S. Vardanyan was the uncle of the suspect A. Mkrtchyan.
