The Nuances of the Foreign Minister’s Visit to Moscow: 'FACT'

The working visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, to Moscow is intriguing for several reasons. First, it should be noted that, according to circulating and unrefuted information, it was Russia that was against the appointment of Deputy Foreign Minister Armen Grigoryan as Foreign Minister for a short term. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was effectively unable to lobby for Grigoryan in Moscow and was forced to return him to the position of Secretary of the Security Council.

Essentially, Armenia's Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan was seen by Russia as the lesser of two evils. It was noteworthy that the appointment of Ararat Mirzoyan was immediately followed by congratulations from Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and an invitation to Moscow, indicating that there were many issues in Russia’s Armenian files that required urgent discussion.

As for the visit itself, we have come to learn some interesting details in this regard. According to our sources, Ararat Mirzoyan has suspicions related to the events of November 10, regarding the possibility that the authorities may have, so to speak, set him up and “sacrificed” him. With these suspicions, he has subtly attempted to gather information while in Moscow.

According to the information conveyed to us, the Russian counterparts understood the hint and directly stated that “you already have enough problems at home; we suggest you focus on solving those problems.”
