Ter-Petrosyan and Kocharian Have Always Defended Each Other, Says Aram Sargsyan
“The first and second presidents of Armenia have a common connection throughout their activities. They have defended each other in all situations,” stated Aram Sargsyan, the president of the Republic Party, during a broadcast on 24 TV.
In response to journalist Karpis Pashoyan’s remark that “they are fundamental opponents,” Sargsyan said, “You know, that fundamental opposition did not prevent Levon Ter-Petrosyan from calling on the people to rally around the acting president after October 27. This happened despite the fact that Ter-Petrosyan confessed to me that he has doubts about the involvement of the current government, that is, Robert Kocharian, in the organization of the October 27 events. Knowing this, the first president called for unity around him. The same was not done in the case of Pashinyan; he acted as Kocharian wanted.”
