No, I Am Not Happy That Parents of the Fallen Threw Stones at MPs: Sophia Hovsepyan
Former MP Sophia Hovsepyan wrote on her Facebook page: “No, I am not happy that parents of the fallen have thrown stones at MPs. This is not something to be happy about. But it was expected, it was inevitable.
For months, I was alone by the side of these people's problems. Many who did not understand asked, ‘What are you doing about it? Why are you getting involved? Was there a body brought out or not? Was the soldier found or not? Your job is to stand next to Nikol; that’s why we elected you (I was not elected for that, had I known ...)’ I watched and remained silent with a great pain in my heart, realizing how surrounded we are by people who do not understand.
You know, if many would come and be with me next to those parents, today they would not feel worse from my posts that after 11 months, a recognizable body of a soldier was found in the refrigerator. They would have fought alongside me, they would have asked a question, resolved at least one issue, and at least shed a tear together. They would have come and asked how that DNA sequencer which deceived the parents of the fallen and which was sent, and is of no use, how many families of the fallen would it have helped, how many injured people would it have resolved issues for, and a number of other questions. Today, you would not deserve this disgraceful attitude.
I do not blame those parents now, because I have seen how these people, cut off from their homes and families, were searching for the bodies of the boys for months in Artsakh, without sleep. They were the ones who joined the search efforts in clothes from the Ministry of Emergency Situations and what emotional numbness they would report in the evening: ‘Today we found several bodies and several body parts ...’ A cold-hearted person! At least justify this inhuman coldness in all circles ... It is unbearable already ...”
