Passenger Bus Collides with Tree in Ararat Province, Over 20 Injured

This morning, on September 2, a serious traffic accident occurred in the Ararat Province. Around 8:30 AM, 62-year-old Serjik Grigoryan, a resident of Artashat, lost control of the FAV bus he was driving on the Burchavan-Mkhchyan inter-village road, veering off the traffic lane and crashing into a tree.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, as a result of the accident, 25 individuals were transported to various hospitals in Artashat and Yerevan with varying degrees of bodily injuries.

Emergency services promptly arrived at the scene, including one combat team from the Artashat Fire and Rescue Unit No. 23 of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Some of the injured were extricated from the bus by rescuers with the assistance of nearby citizens.

On-site were also officers from the 2nd platoon of the 1st company of the 2nd division of the Traffic Police, led by platoon commander Grigor Poghosyan and squad commander Karapet Harutyunyan.

The information about the accident was communicated to the Artashat Police Department by the operational management center of the Traffic Police, where a duty group promptly arrived, led by the day’s responsible officer.

According to G. Shamshyan’s reports, the bus was servicing the Getazat-Yerevan route.
