Armenian Side Reports Casualty: Ministry of Defense Issues Statement

On September 1, at around 11:10, Azerbaijani armed forces units once again resorted to provocation, opening fire with small arms and sniper rifles towards Armenian positions located in the Ararat region of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, specifically in the Eraskh area. As a result, a contract serviceman of the Armenian Ministry of Defense, Junior Sergeant Gegham Lyovayi Sahakyan, born in 1982, suffered a fatal gunshot wound.

The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia shares the heavy grief of this loss and offers its support to the family members, relatives, and colleagues of Gegham Sahakyan. The Ministry of Defense strongly condemns the actions of the Azerbaijani side and warns that these actions will not remain unanswered. Full responsibility for the escalation of the situation lies with the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan.
