VIDEO: A Case of Counterfeiting Revealed

On August 27, officers from the Taroni Division of the police apprehended a 27-year-old resident of Baghramyan Street in Vanadzor on suspicion of acquiring, possessing, and distributing counterfeit money. According to preliminary information, he had circulated counterfeit banknotes at shops on Baghramyan and Tigran Mets streets in Vanadzor.

During a personal search of the detained individual, four 5000 drams and nine 1000 drams counterfeit banknotes were discovered. It later emerged that between August 25 and 27, he had received counterfeit banknotes worth 125,000 drams from an acquaintance.

A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident. During the preparation of materials, it was established that a young man residing in the Jungliners neighborhood of Vanadzor was printing counterfeit banknotes with denominations of 20,000 and 5,000 drams using a printing device at home.

Subsequent measures revealed that the individual in question was a 27-year-old resident of Chukhajyan Street in Vanadzor. He was apprehended on August 28 and presented to the Lori regional investigation department, where he was arrested.

The preliminary investigation of the initiated criminal case is ongoing.
