VIDEO: 1032 Grams of Gold Jewelry Hidden from Customs Control Discovered
The Department for the Fight Against Smuggling continues its uncompromising struggle against the illegal importation of goods through the territory of the Republic of Armenia. The department received operational information regarding the possible involvement of Armenian citizen J.G. in the process of importing gold jewelry hidden from customs control.
To verify the authenticity of the received information, employees of the Department for the Fight Against Smuggling undertook comprehensive operational-intelligence measures. Recently, after arriving at Yerevan’s Zvartnots Airport on a flight from Istanbul-Minsk-Yerevan and crossing the 'Green Line' in the passenger arrival hall, the representatives of the smuggling department and the Western Customs Office stopped and subjected the Armenian citizen to customs control.
As a result of the personal customs inspection conducted on the individual, 1032 grams of gold jewelry were discovered, hidden in the waistband of the citizen. Following this incident, materials were prepared for a violation under Article 201 of the Customs Code and have been forwarded to the Legal Department of the State Revenue Committee (SRC).
The discovered 1032 grams of gold jewelry, as direct objects of the violation of customs regulations, have been seized and placed in the customs control area.
