Issues with the Supply of New Passports in Armenia

Recently, citizens have reported that employees of various departments of the Passport and Visa Department of Armenia are informing applicants for new passports that there are no new passports available and that they must wait a month to receive one.

Armenpress has contacted the police for clarification on the reasons for the delay in providing new passports to citizens. The police explained that an issue has arisen regarding the supply of new passports, which is related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

They did not provide further details but promised to issue a more detailed official statement regarding the matter.

According to the law on "The Passport of the Citizen of the Republic of Armenia," a passport is issued (or exchanged) on the 15th working day following the submission of the application or, at the citizen's request, within a shorter timeframe for a fee.
