Investigation Committee Appoints Forensic Examination for Gegham Nazaryan

Gegham Nazaryan, a member of the Armenian National Assembly from the 'Hayastan' faction, has been summoned by the Investigative Committee to provide clarification regarding the incident of brawl that took place in the National Assembly on August 25. In an interview with 'Fastinfo', Nazaryan announced that a forensic examination has been appointed concerning his case.

It is noted that during the incident at the National Assembly, members of the ruling party had attacked opposition parliamentarians, delivering targeted blows. Gegham Nazaryan sustained an injury to the eye and was taken to a medical center.

“Several people were piled on top of each other. I was making a great effort to pull them apart; after pulling one away, I moved towards the others, and someone intentionally hit me. Honestly, I remember the assailant's face well, but I don’t know their name. Moreover, they looked directly at me and struck; I hadn’t expected such actions. If I had known, I could have at least defended myself, but, apparently, such things happen,” Nazaryan recounted.

During the same incident, ruling party member Vahagn Aleksanyan kicked opposition member Vahe Hakobyan, and blows were inflicted on deputy speaker Ishkhan Saghatelyan and parliamentarian Artur Ghazinyan.

The day before this incident, violence was also exercised against Anna Mkrtchyan from the 'Honorary' faction and Ardzvik Minasyan, the secretary of the 'Hayastan' faction, where Minasyan's shirt was torn.

It should be noted that ruling party members and law enforcement officers in military attire who were on duty in the National Assembly displayed unruly and hooligan actions while Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was in the chamber presenting the government's program.
