Gyumri Resident Strikes Fellow Citizen with Axe: Investigation Committee
The Investigative Committee has reported that a resident of Gyumri has been charged with attempted murder. According to the statement released by the committee, the man struck a fellow citizen with an axe, but was unable to complete the crime because the victim defended himself with his hands. The victim's friends also intervened, after which the 38-year-old man fled the scene in his vehicle.
Based on the factual data obtained during the investigation, the 38-year-old resident of Gyumri arranged to meet with a fellow citizen due to disagreements on August 23, 2021, around 6:00 PM, in front of the Gyumri branch of the Armenian State Economic University. After exiting his vehicle at the specified location, he attacked the citizen with strikes from an axe he had brought with him, intending to unlawfully take his life. However, due to circumstances beyond his control, he could not complete the crime as the victim defended himself with his hands, sustaining injuries to his left arm.
The 38-year-old man has been charged under the article for attempted murder, and his detention has been selected as a preventive measure. The investigation is ongoing.
