Former Head of Baghravan Community Charged with Misconduct
The Shirak Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee has clarified all circumstances regarding the misconduct of the head of the Baghravan community. This information was reported by the Committee.
Evidence has been gathered indicating that the head of the Baghravan community, during the period from 2002 to 2017, abused his official position for personal gain. With the assistance of two female residents of the community, he appointed one as a librarian and the other as a club manager, despite the community's culture house being in a collapsed state and non-functional. In conditions where they did not attend work and failed to fulfill their job responsibilities, he fabricated false payroll documents, which were then formalized and stamped by the community administration. By circulating these documents for payment, he misappropriated a substantial amount earmarked as salary from the community budget, totaling 3,248,526 Armenian Drams.
Based on the collected sufficient evidence, charges have been brought against the head of the Baghravan community under points 1 and 3 of Part 2 of Article 179 and Part 1 of Article 314 of the RA Criminal Code. One of the community residents has also been charged under points 1 and 3 of Part 2 of Article 179. Criminal prosecution against the other resident has been discontinued due to the expiration of the statute of limitations for criminal liability.
The pre-trial investigation has been completed, and the criminal case, with an accusatory conclusion, has been sent to the prosecutor overseeing the preliminary investigation for confirmation and for submission to the court.
Notice: The suspect or accused in the alleged crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedures established by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia, by a court's legally valid verdict.
