Discussion on the Closure of the Goris-Kapan Highway: Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets with Kopirkin
On August 27, Armenia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan hosted Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin. This was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Ararat Mirzoyan stated that Armenia will continue to deepen and expand cooperative relations with Russia across all areas of the interstate agenda, as reflected in the government program adopted the previous day.
It was noted that the dynamics of events developing at regional and international levels make it even more necessary to stimulate Armenian-Russian relations with new impetus.
The head of Armenia's foreign policy agency expressed satisfaction with Russia's efforts related to the implementation of the agreements outlined in the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020.
Addressing the recent provocations by Azerbaijan, including the closure of the Goris-Kapan highway, Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized that the Azerbaijani side is thus disrupting Armenia's efforts aimed at de-escalating the situation and establishing peace in the region.
The interlocutors also discussed cooperation within the framework of the CSTO. Ararat Mirzoyan stressed that Armenia's upcoming presidency in the CSTO will make active efforts aimed at the organization's development and reinforcement of its capabilities.
