Firefighting Operations Resume in Khosrov Forest

On August 26, at 06:00, firefighting operations have resumed in the territory of the Khosrov Forest State Reserve. This information has been reported by the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES).

A total of 29 rescuers are involved in the firefighting efforts.

It is noteworthy that on August 24, at 19:48, the Kotayk Provincial Crisis Management Center received a report about a fire outbreak in the territory of the Khosrov Forest State Reserve.

Six firefighting teams from the MES fire and rescue units of Yerevan and the provincial rescue administration were dispatched to the scene.

According to preliminary data, approximately 1 hectare of vegetation is burning.

The fire was contained at 23:28 on the same day.

A total of 44 rescuers, 100 residents from the Garni community led by the community head, and 50 employees of the Khosrov Forest State Reserve under the direction of the director participated in the firefighting efforts.

Various vehicles participated in the operations, including three Ural trucks, four ZIL 131 trucks, seven UAZ vehicles, four GAZ 66 trucks, ten VAZ-2121 vehicles from the Garni community, as well as seven UAZ vehicles and ten 20-liter sprayers from the Khosrov Forest State Reserve.

Present at the scene were Deputy Directors of the Fire and Rescue Service, Colonel K. Manukyan and Colonel T. Petrosyan.

Furthermore, a duty shift has been established by four employees of the Khosrov Forest State Reserve and seven firefighters.

On August 25, firefighting operations resumed again in the Khosrov Forest State Reserve with the participation of ten firefighters and forestry employees. At 19:30, information was received that there were new fire spots in the area known as Blrashen in the Khosrov Forest State Reserve.

Three firefighting teams from the provincial rescue administration, an operational group, specialized rescue teams from the Rescue Forces Administration, and operational and UAV specialized groups were sent to the site.

The fire was fully contained by August 26 at 01:16, with approximately 1 hectare of vegetation still burning.

A total of 60 rescuers were involved in the firefighting operations; 30 residents from the Garni community, 35 employees from the Khosrov Forest State Reserve, three ZIL 131 trucks, three UAZ vehicles, one GAZ 66 truck from the Garni community, as well as five UAZ vehicles and three ZIL 130 trucks from the reserve participated in the operations.
