A Member of the Ruling Party Struck Me Directly in the Eye, Causing Temporary Vision Loss: Gegham Nazaryan

A member of the ruling party struck me directly in the eye, which caused me to temporarily lose my vision. Interestingly, this individual noticed that I was merely trying to stop the fight. This was reported by Gegham Nazaryan, a member of the Armenian National Assembly from the 'Armenia' faction.

He elaborated on the incident, stating: 'What happened in the National Assembly? I’ve been receiving dozens of calls and messages from the parents, friends, journalists, and political representatives inquiring about my health and wanting to know what actually took place in the National Assembly. I want to say right away that the examinations at the Malayan Medical Center and the 'Erebuni' Medical Center showed that there are no major issues, and I will recover within two or three days. I thank the management and medical staff of the Malayan Medical Center and the 'Erebuni' Medical Center for their caring attitude and professional medical assistance.'

'As for what happened in the National Assembly: I had already informed that I would not be present during the presentation of the government program. However, today, when I realized that a confrontation was taking place, I rushed there. The first thing I saw was four or five ruling party members attacking Arthur Ghazinyan like wolves, striking him in the head and other parts of his body as if they had just gotten into the hands of Aliyev and Erdogan. It was evident that they were given instructions from their leader to attack predetermined targets in small groups.'

'Among them was former Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan. Imagine, the Minister of Health, a physician by profession, turned into a zealot of the Taliban, physically assaulting another person. Incidentally, Arsen Torosyan, as far as I remember, had been discharged from the army due to health issues, yet he was aggressively attacking his peaceful colleague, striking and hitting. I immediately rushed to him and managed to remove him quite roughly from Arthur Ghazinyan, after which I decided to return to Ghazinyan to pull him away from the others. At that moment, someone from the ruling party struck me directly in the eye, and I temporarily lost my vision after that strike. Interestingly, this ruling party member saw that I was only trying to stop the fight.'

'I must emphasize that at that moment, I noticed several members of the ruling party, as well as a senior officer from the Special Patrol Service nearby, turned to this individual and said, ‘What’s wrong with you? What have you done?’ They removed him from the scene. My injury was evident, and the first aid team was called from the Assembly's medical unit. I thank everyone who was with me at that moment, those who continuously called and inquired about my condition, regardless of their political views and affiliations. There will be more to say and do later. It is clear that the organizer of all this was their leader, who, surrounded by bodyguards, calmly observed these shameful actions.'
