Fire in Artsakh Reaches Storage Site of Life-Threatening Munitions
Explosions heard in Stepanakert and neighboring settlements occurred in the field area of the Khanatzakh community in the Askeran region, where demining teams from the Humanitarian Demining Center were scheduled to conduct planned detonation work. This is reported by the Artsakh Emergency Situations Ministry.
The state emergency service of Artsakh states that the fire that broke out in that area spread rapidly due to strong winds and reached the location where dangerous yet unexploded munitions were previously stored.
“We urge everyone not to panic. The situation is under the control of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ emergency service. Currently, deminers, firefighting rescue teams, and special response units are taking all necessary measures to extinguish the fire and quickly prevent the looming danger,” the statement from the Artsakh Emergency Situations Ministry reads.
