14-Year-Old Boy Found Hanged with Handwritten Note in Pocket: Investigation Committee Reveals New Details

The Investigative Committee of Armenia reports that a criminal case has been opened regarding the suicide of a minor boy.

“On August 23, 2021, at 12:15 PM, a report was received from the ‘Nairi’ medical center regarding a 14-year-old boy found hanged in one of the houses in the village of Zovuni, Kotayk Province.

As a result of the measures taken, it was established that the minor, born in 2007, committed suicide by hanging himself with a sports uniform belt from a metal rod intended for exercise on the roof of the aforementioned house. His body was discovered at the crime scene lying on the ground.

During the external inspection of the body, a strangulation mark was found on the neck, and a handwritten letter was discovered in his pocket.

A criminal case has been initiated at the Nairi investigative division of the Kotayk regional investigative department of the RA Investigative Committee under Part 1 of Article 110 of the RA Criminal Code. A forensic medical examination of the body has been appointed. An investigation is underway,” the statement reads.
