Zas on Armenia's Position and the Effectiveness of the CSTO
Armenia has always occupied an active position within the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), demonstrating genuine interest in strengthening the organization. This was stated by CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas during an online briefing, responding to a question from Sputnik Armenia.
In September, the presidency of the organization will pass to Armenia. In this regard, Zas noted that active work is currently underway in Yerevan to shape the priorities of the Armenian presidency period.
“This issue was also discussed during my recent visit to Yerevan. We expressed our views and our proposals,” the Secretary General said, answering a question about the expectations from Armenia's presidency.
Zas is confident that certain steps will be taken in the coming year to enhance the effectiveness of the CSTO. It is worth noting that the organization includes Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
