One of the Most Famous Muslims, Khabib, Refuses to Comment on the Situation in Afghanistan, Considering It Inappropriate

On August 18, Russian mixed martial artist (MMA) and world champion in combat sambo, Khabib Nurmagomedov, attended a large press conference dedicated to the signing of a new sponsorship agreement between his team and Gorilla Energy.

The former UFC champion was asked about everything for nearly an hour and a half, and he willingly responded to all those questions. The only question that Khabib did not even attempt to answer came from journalist Vadim Tikhomirov.

- I wanted to ask how shocking the current situation in Afghanistan is for you...
- What does Afghanistan have to do with you?
- I have nothing to do with it, just...
- And I have nothing to do with it either. And I would not want to discuss any political issue that is thousands of kilometers away from us while being a participant in such a serious event. Thank you.

The logic of the question was clear: the journalist asked one of the world's most famous Muslims to share his opinion on very important and even painful events related to the Muslim world. However, Khabib deemed the proposal to speak on this topic inappropriate and somewhat nervously moved on to the next question.

On August 22, Khabib published a photo with Russian Formula 1 driver Nikita Mazepin on his Instagram, which shortly thereafter drew negative comments from people defending Afghanistan.
