Sisian Police Chief and Commander of Goris Military Unit Dismissed

Recently, the Minister of Defense of Armenia, Arshak Karapetyan, issued directives resulting in dismissals. According to reliable information from ArmLur.am, the deputy colonel and head of the Sisian military police department, Arthur Grigoryan, has been relieved of his duties by the minister's order.

In another order, Arayik Minasyan, the commander of the Goris military unit, has also been dismissed from his position.

Sources from ArmLur.am report that these dismissals are related to the murders of three servicemen that occurred yesterday.

To remind, on August 19, 2021, around 01:30, the bodies of the servicemen, who had been performing combat duty at a combat position of the defense area of the military unit, were discovered. The deceased, privates Gor Artak Sahakyan, Levon Rafael Harutyunyan, and Murad Ashot Muradyan, showed gunshot wounds.

Following the incident, the Second Garrison Investigation Department of the Military Investigative Committee of Armenia initiated a criminal case under the first point of the second part of Article 104 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, which pertains to intentional homicide.

On the same day, around 17:40, a fellow serviceman, identified as A. H., who served in the same military unit, was arrested on suspicion of having deliberately caused the death of the aforementioned servicemen.

The investigation of the criminal case is ongoing.
