Citizens Find Themselves in an Uncomfortable Position as Sputnik V Vaccine is Unavailable
The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports that the Armenian Ministry of Health has placed several citizens in an uncomfortable situation. In some clinics in Yerevan, the Sputnik V vaccine is unavailable for citizens to receive their second dose. For several days, "Zhoghovurd" has been receiving phone calls from citizens regarding this issue.
According to their statements, they approached their local clinic to receive the second dose of the Sputnik V vaccine, but the medical institution informed them that they do not have it. "They say, ‘Go, we'll call you when it's available.’ They haven't even warned citizens in advance not to come to the clinic. This is unacceptable, as after receiving the first vaccination, a person must be vaccinated after a certain period of time.
"Zhoghovurd" contacted the Armenian Ministry of Health regarding the issue, where they stated that the distribution of the Sputnik V vaccine has taken place, but it has already run out in some clinics, while others do have it.
“Negotiations for acquiring new batches are underway. According to the agreement, we are expecting a new shipment of Sputnik V,” they assured. Although the Ministry of Health reassured "Zhoghovurd" that a new batch will arrive in Armenia soon and people will receive their entitled second dose, citizens are concerned that delays in vaccination timelines could be harmful.
Moreover, the Ministry did not specify a concrete timeframe for receiving the second dose. It appears that on one hand, people are being encouraged to get vaccinated voluntarily, while on the other hand, they are not being provided with the vaccine. This highlights how the fight against the coronavirus is being organized and managed.
