Calm Situation at Geghamasar Border, No Gunfire Reported: Community Leader

The situation along the Geghamasar community border is calm, with no gunfire reported. This information was provided to 24News by the head of the Geghamasar community, Hakob Avetian.

“It has been three days since the gunfire in Sotk, and there have been no incidents reported along the border,” he noted.

Ruзаnnа Grigoryan, a representative of the GeoProMining Gold company, also mentioned in our conversation that the employees of the Sotk mine have returned to work since August 18, and the gunfire has ceased for several days.

It is important to note that several evacuations of employees from the Sotk mining area occurred due to gunfire incidents at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in the Gegharkunik region. Azerbaijan has once again resorted to provocations, firing at Armenian positions with various calibers of firearms.

As a reminder, starting from 14:45 on August 17, the Azerbaijani armed forces opened fire with various calibers of firearms towards Armenian positions located in the Gegharkunik region, specifically in the Sotk area, resulting in one soldier of the Armed Forces of Armenia receiving gunshot wounds.
